• Every coach must hold an active USA Lacrosse Coach Membership valid through the entire season.

• Membership automatically provides liability coverage and access to required training modules.

• Join or renew at: www.usalacrosse.com/membership

• When registering, select “Coach” as your member type and use your legal name to match screening results.

• A national background check through USA Lacrosse’s partner NCSI is required for all coaches (head, assistant, or volunteer).

• The screening is completed inside your USA Lacrosse account once you have a valid membership.

• Background checks must be renewed every two years.

• NBLC cannot permit on-field participation until clearance is confirmed in the USA Lacrosse database.

USA Lacrosse designates the following as part of its Bronze-Level baseline certification, which satisfies SJYLAX rules:

1. Abuse Prevention Training (SafeSport / Protecting Young Victims)

2. Concussion Awareness Course

3. Sudden Cardiac Arrest / AED Awareness Course

4. Cultural Competency Module

5. Annual Rules & Safety Test

All are accessible directly through your USA Lacrosse coach dashboard. Completion certificates remain valid for one season unless otherwise stated.

• The State of New Jersey mandates this one-time certification for all youth sports volunteers working with minors.

• Courses are offered locally and online. Proof of completion must be submitted to the NBLC board before the first practice.

• Maintain a compliance roster verifying each coach’s membership, background check, and certifications.

• Cover or reimburse registration fees for required safety courses when pre-approved.

• Provide USA Lacrosse and SJYLAX rulebooks and coordinate annual rule updates.

• Host preseason coaching meetings focused on safety, scheduling, and communication standards.

• Suspend field privileges immediately for any coach whose credentials lapse during the season.
